Abstract
Conventional optical fiber interferometric sensors are based on optical fringe counting. The precision depends on the interval between two fringes, namely, half-wavelength. Here we propose a novel optical fiber sensor using a two-beam interference hybrid optical bistable device; an electrooptical crystal modulator is set in one beam, and a fiber for measurement of the temperature is set in another beam. These two beams are combined and interfered as output light. Part of the output light is received by a detector and converted into an electric signal to control the modulator.
