Terahertz squeezed light and self-pulsing in semiconductor lasers with nonlinear loss

Abstract

We show how the combination of dispersive outcoupling and Kerr nonlinearity in semiconductor lasers creates regimes of self-pulsing and intensity-squeezed states of light from optical to terahertz wavelengths.
