Abstract
Several new sampling oscilloscopes (CRO) have been introduced in recent years, the fastest claiming step rise times of about 5 ps. Development of these CROs has been driven by rapid developments in areas such as optical fibre communications where they are often the limiting instrument in a measurement. Since these instruments are able to output waveforms to computers, knowledge of the impulse response can be used to increase the speed and accuracy of the CRO measurement (1). The purpose of this paper is to describe the techniques that we have applied to derive the temporal responses of fast sampling CROs.
