The Effect of Age and Eccentricity on Layer-by-Layer Perimetry: Modulation-Induced-Desensitization

Abstract

Layer-by-Layer perimetry (Enoch et al, 1981) consists of a battery of psychophysical tests for evaluating visual function. These tests include the Westheimer effect, Modulation Induced Desensitization (MID), and the Flashing Repeat Static Test (FRST). In his original work developing Layer-by-Layer perimetry, Enoch called the Westheimer effect the Sustained-like function and called MID the Transient-like function, but these terms convey unnecessary implications about neurophysiological function.
