Los deportes alternativos como contenidos para la Educación Física en Educación Secundaria (Alternative sports as content for Physical Education in Secondary Education)

Abstract

El objetivo de este estudio fue analizar la evidencia científica en el diseño y desarrollo de propuestas con deportes alternativos con alumnado de Educación Secundaria. Se realizó una revisión sistemática en la que se consultaron las bases de datos Dialnet, Pubmed, ScienceDirect y Web of Science. Tras establecer los criterios de elegibilidad, se examinaron un total de quince artículos que se trataron de forma cualitativa. Se categorizaron los resultados en función de la contribución de los deportes al ámbito físico-motriz, cognitivo y social. Se halló un reducido número de investigaciones con evidencia empírica sobre el uso de los deportes alternativos con alumnado de Educación Secundaria (quince estudios). En estos, se indagó sobre ocho modalidades de deportes alternativos. A nivel físico-motriz, el kin-ball y el korfball fueron los deportes que más incrementaron los niveles de actividad física moderada a vigorosa. A nivel cognitivo, el ultimate y el tchoukball contribuyeron al disfrute, la motivación y la satisfacción de las necesidades psicológicas básicas del estudiantado. A nivel social, los hallazgos mostraron una tendencia positiva y algunos deportes alternativos, como el datchball, el colpbol, el korfball, el quidditch, el tchoukball o el ultimate, contribuyeron al progreso de múltiples variables, como el liderazgo, la cooperación, la empatía o la deportividad, entre otras. A pesar de la rápida consolidación de los deportes alternativos en el diseño y desarrollo de las clases de Educación Física, se requiere de más investigaciones que ahonden sobre la repercusión que dichos deportes pueden tener en el alumnado de Educación Secundaria y sus implicaciones en la Educación Física y el deporte escolar. The aim of this study was to analyze the scientific evidence in the design and development of proposals with alternative sports with Secondary Education students. A systematic review was carried out in which the Dialnet, Pubmed, ScienceDirect and Web of Science databases were consulted. After establishing the eligibility criteria, a total of fifteen articles were examined and treated qualitatively. The results were categorized according to the contribution of alternative sports to the physical-motor, cognitive and social spheres. A small number of investigations with empirical evidence on the use of alternative sports with Secondary Education students (fifteen studies) were found. In these, eight alternative sports modalities were investigated. At a physical-motor level, kin-ball and korfball were the sports that most increased the levels of moderate to vigorous physical activity. At a cognitive level, ultimate and tchoukball contributed to the enjoyment, motivation and satisfaction of the basic psychological needs of the students. At the social level, the findings showed a positive trend and some alternative sports, such as datchball, colpball, korfball, quidditch, tchoukball or ultimate, contributed to the progress of multiple variables, such as leadership, cooperation, empathy or sportsmanship, among others. Despite the rapid consolidation of alternative sports in the design and development of Physical Education classes, more research is required to delve into the impact that these sports can have on Secondary Education students and their implications for Physical Education and school sports.
