Abstract
We report two cases of bilateral rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD) associated with cytomegalovirus retinitis (CMVR) in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) patients, treated with 23G pars plana vitrectomy (PPV), endolaser (EL), and silicon oil injection (SOI). Both patients had retinal microvasculopathy changes and were managed for postoperative cystoid macular edema (CME). Our cases highlight the challenges in treating RRD associated with CMVR in HIV patients and the importance of close follow-up for these patients.
