Abstract

Abstract Aim: The aim of this study was to assess the impact of filmed modeling by cartoon character on the anxiety of children during pit and fissure sealant application under rubber dam isolation. Methodology: The study consisted of a total of 36 children who were randomly allotted to interventional and control groups by flip-coin method. A prerecorded audio-visual film of a cartoon character getting the treatment done was shown to children included in the interventional group. The anxiety level was checked before and after the application of pit and fissure sealant using the Modified Child Dental Anxiety Scale. Results: Pearson’s Chi-square tests and Wilcoxon sign-ranked test were applied for statistical analysis (P < 0.5), wherein statistically significant changes in anxiety level were observed among children following the filmed modeling. Conclusion: Film modeling is an efficient technique to manage 7–9-year-old children’s anxiety as well as to instill positive behavior during dental treatment.
