European Chemicals Agency creates additives inventory

Abstract

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has compiled a comprehensive inventory of all plastic additives used to date in the European Union (EU), including plasticizers, flame retardants, antioxidants, pigments, heat stabilizers and others. The work was carried out over two years with trade bodies Cefic, PlasticsEurope and European Plastics Converters (representing the plastics value chain), together with academics and EU member state representatives. The aim is that the inventory will provide the basis for better risk assessments of these additives under REACH and CLP (the EU's Classification, Labelling & Packaging Regulation).
