Abstract
Bricks-and-mortar retail sales are rapidly being replaced by online shopping. And where money is spent, bad actors will follow. Data breaches involving e-commerce have now surpassed breaches at the point of sale and they're becoming very expensive. In spite of this, there remains an alarming lack of corporate self-awareness when it comes to cyber security. Where money is spent, bad actors will follow. Data breaches involving e-commerce have now surpassed breaches at the point of sale and they're becoming very expensive. In spite of this, there remains an alarming lack of corporate self-awareness when it comes to cyber security. This has led to major incidents that could have been avoided. Steve Roberts of OSS Technology analyses some major breaches of the past few years and asks what went wrong, how could they have been prevented and what lessons can we learn?
