Treatment of Chronic Instability of the Digital Joints Using a Strip of Volar Plate

Abstract

This paper describes a surgical technique for treating chronic instability of the metacarpo-phalangeal joint and proximal inter-phalangeal joint. This procedure has advantages over currently used operations, in that only local tissues are used, and it is not necessary to sacrifice any tendons for reinforcement.
