3. A divergent slope as T→0 is surprising, because it appears to contradict the third law of thermodynamics limT→0ΔS→0. Therefore, ∂χ/∂T=-(∂2/∂B2)∂F/∂T=∂2S/∂B2 should vanish as T→0. However, for the spin-1/2 chain the derivatives in respect to field and temperature do not commute in this limit.
