1. Prior to 1983, the title of GPLNE was: NELINET Government Documents Task Group. GPLNE is the New England regional association of government documents librarians. NELINET is a regional network organized to assist libraries in achieving their resource sharing and public service goals through cooperative, automation-based programs. Academic, public, and special libraries join NELINET in order to access automated systems such as the OCLC Online Union Catalog. NELINET provides support services for GPLNE.

5. The sum of $500 was allocated to the NELINET Government Documents Task Group by the GODORT Steering Committee on the recommendation of the GODORT Education Task Force. This money was subsequently returned to GODORT after the arrangement with Ad Lab ceased. The Documents to the People Award is given annually by the Congressional Information Service, Inc. and GODORT to an outstanding individual who has most effectively encouraged the use of federal documents in support of library services. The recipient assigns the funds for use in an appropriate endeavor in the documents area.
