Abstract
The text provides a brief introduction to the entire volume, which is primarily the fruit of the research project entitled “Sociological Theory of Meaning: Power Fields and Social Sciences in Processes of Semiosis”, funded by the National Science Center and carried out at the Professor Robert Zajonc Institute of Social Studies, University of Warsaw, under the supervision of the editor of this volume. The common theoretical framework of the texts is pointed out, in particular the references to global historical sociology and Pierre Bourdieu’s paradigm of field analysis. The aims of the work are briefly outlined, as well as possible ways of using it in further development of the social sciences in Poland.
