Abstract
A series of drogued floats was released at the entrance to Peel Inlet and the limit of their penetration into the inlet was found to be 1.75 0.15 km. We show that this compares favourably with a model based on the upstream propagation of a frictionless tide and use this model to discuss the exchange of the inlet waters due to barometric variations.
