Synthesis, Absolute Configuration and Local Anaesthetic Activity of the Enantiomers of α- and Β-Methylprocaine

Abstract

Optically active forms of 1-( diethylaminomethyl )ethyl 4-aminobenzoate (α- methylprocaine ) (1) and 2-( diethylamino ) propyl 4-aminobenzoate (β- methylprocaine ) (2) of known absolute configuration have been prepared. The enantiomers show no stereoselectivity in conduction or infiltration anaesthesia.
