Abstract
The interaction of a polar
molecule in a solvent with the iron(III) dithiocarbamates has been examined and
a linear relationship derived for the variation of the reduction potential, E1/2
with the mole fraction of the specific polar molecule. Experimental results of
E1/2 from voltammetry measurements of several iron(III)
dithiocarbamates in acetone water mixtures support the theoretical model. The
effect of this solvent interaction on the n.m.r, spectra of these compounds is
discussed briefly.
