Abstract
The stereochemistry of the
bicyclic imide, 4a-methyldecahydroisoquinoline-1,3-dione (1), has been
defined, as has that of intermediates in its synthesis. Epimers of (1) exhibit
dual stimulant-depressant central nervous system action in the mouse similar to
that shown by 3-methyl-3-propylglutarimide.
