Abstract
A study of the mode of penetration of the host by germinating ascospores of E. armeniacae has provided an explanation for the failure of fungicides to prevent infection of wounds. Experimental evidence indicates that the susceptibility of wounds made during the dormant period decreases during the subsequent growing season. Additional information concerning spore production is presented and some new hosts are listed.
