Abstract
Isolated monolete, monocolpate, and alete sporomorphs have been found to occur frequently in Australian coals and shales of Permian age. The structure, distribution, and possibie affnities of a number of the more common types have been discussed and an attempt made to classify the sporomorphs described on the basis of their germinal mechanism and ornament.
Seven new sporomorphs and one new form have been assigned to one or other of the existing sporotypes, Laevigatosporites Ibrahim, Tuberculatosporites Imgrund, Verrucososporites (Knox) Potonie & Kremp, and Entylissa (Naumova) Potonie & Kremp. Marsupipollenites n. spt, and Pilasporites n. spt. have been instituted as new sporotypes.
