Abstract
A new morphological mutant of S. commune, dm.l0, was induced by trea.t-ment with ultraviolet light. It wa.s shown to be on a. linka.ge group where neither A nor B incompatibility factor is located. A wild type sector grown out from the dome mutant colony proved to be genetica.lly controlled by a. suppressor gene, dm-l0-s, which can also a.ffect another non-allelic dome muta.nt, dm-9, but not dm-2, dm-5, and dm-7 dome-sha.ped mutants of the series. The na.ture i\nd significance of dm-l0-s and i\ possible mechanism for its operation are discussed.
