Decapitated Peas and Diffusible Gibberellins

Abstract

Growing and treatment conditions are described for a test in which decapitated dark-grown pea seedlings manifest an elongation response proportional to the amount of gibberellic acid supplied in 10 1'1 agar disks. This response removes the necessity of treating tissues or extracts or both with extraction techniques which, it has been shown, may cause structural changes in endogenous gibberellins.
