Abstract
The number of days and the accumulated values of meteorological variables in the intervals between specific stages of the crop cycle of barley and lupins were derived from experiments conducted over a range of sites and seasons. The duration of the intervals of both crops were best defined by relation to date of sowing and the day-degrees of maximum air temperature. Rainfall was also important in determining the intervals in lupins, particularly from the beginning of flowering. Equations were derived to predict the number of days in each interval. Comparative data on the number of days in the intervals and the day-degrees of maximum air temperature are presented for wheat, barley, oats, lupins, peas, rape, linseed and safflower.
