Abstract
o-(N-Methy1formamido)benzaldehyde
reacted with glyoxal bisulphite
and sodium cyanide in alkaline solution to yield 2-imino-5-[T-(N-methylformamido)phenyl]-2,5-dihydrofuran-3,4-diol.
Under the same reaction conditions o-amino-
and o-N-methylamino-benzaldehyde yielded
3-hydroxy-4(1H)- quinolone
(quinoline-3,4-diol) and 3-hydroxy-1-methyl-4(1H)-quinolone respectively.
