Abstract
From the wood of Grevillea robusta a new
phenol, grevillol, was isolated in high yield, together with sitosterol. The
structure of grevillol was established as 5-n-tridecylresorcinol by
spectroscopic methods, chemical degradation, and synthesis. The wood of Orites
excelsa yielded only sitosterol.
