Abstract
The depside 4-O-demethylmicrophyllinic acid (1) {4-[2,4-dihydroxy-6-(2-oxoheptyl) benzoyloxy ]-2-hydroxy-6-(2-oxohepty1)benzoic acid} has been isolated from a lichen for the first time. The structure of this compound and microphyllinic acid (2) were verified by unambiguous synthesis.
