Abstract
The article begins with an excursion into the field of formation and development of the importance of scientific enlightenment. Further, with the help of a qualitative method of in-depth interview, the article examines the value system of young scientists and the motives of behavior formed by it related to the implementation of the practice of popularization of science for the widest segments of the population. Young researchers determine what the popularization of science is and what knowledge is needed to become a scientific educator. Based on the analysis of the interview, we come to the conclusion that the popularization of scientific knowledge is a professional socially significant activity that requires certain knowledge and skills, based on personal interest in scientific activity on the one hand. On the other hand, the second basis is the desire to build communication with society, engage in dialogue, the desire to be included in the process of scientific enlightenment to be useful to society through their activities, not to be afraid to risk their position in the scientific community, to actively master the skills necessary to popularize scientific knowledge.
