Abstract
Slavery, one of the most important problems in the history of humanity, has also found its place in the 21st century world due to the failure of the states to take enough measures or the measures taken do not address the reasons that cause slavery. In the study, the old form of slavery, called “classical slavery”, changed its cover and became “modern slavery”. Modern slavery, unlike classical slavery, preserves the legal status of the person; however, in such cases where people are employed against their will, forced to marry or are subject to trafficking, the status of the person is deemed worthless. This study aims to contribute to how to effectively combat slavery by addressing the differences between modern slavery and classical slavery, modern slavery appearances, data from the reports prepared by international organizations on modern slavery, and legal efforts to combat it.
