Abstract
From consideration of the theory of emission, the causes of interference, and the effects of segregation and self absorption, complex equations can be derived relating observable measurements of line intensity ratio to the concentration of the element being determined and the other elements present. These equations are capable of graphical solution and can be used to make working curves and predict the limits of analysis As actual working curves are of the predicted shapes, these theoretically obtained curves can be used as guides when correcting for interference effects, thus reducing the number of standards required for such analysis.
