Abstract
A technique is presented that allows for the determination of boron in a great number of iron and nickel base alloys with the use of only one set of standards. Along with this advantage, another feature of the method is that the sensitivity can be increased in an alloy where an extremely low boron concentration is known to exist. The base metals of an alloy are removed by the use of the mercury cathode. To each of these stripped samples, copper is added to make up its new matrix. These samples are then compared to boron standards which have the same matrix. The technique greatly facilitates the speed at which boron can be determined in alloys that have varying matrices
