Abstract
A simple, rapid, and selective infrared spectrometric method for the determination of beryllium is demonstrated. In this scheme, beryllium is extracted as acetylacetonate into chloroform, and the organic phase is sprayed onto a sodium chloride disk. Then the disk is inserted into the sample compartment of an infrared spectrometer for measuring beryllium concentrations. By this method, spectra may be obtained at sensitivities in the nanogram range. The band at 1215 cm−1 assigned to the µBeO vibrations was used as the analytical line.
