Abstract
The first application of multifrequency phase-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy (PRFS) to the characterization of a complex, multicomponent system is described. The incorporation of lifetime selectivity significantly enhances the ability to discriminate between different petrolatum samples, relative to conventional, steady-state fluorescence techniques. Chemometric data analysis strategies are used to reduce noise contributions and to compare the dynamic spectral features of the petrolatums.
