Abstract
Results on the characterization of a helium alternating-current plasma (ACP) are presented. Spectroscopic techniques were utilized to obtain diagnostic measurements of the plasma. The characteristics studied include appearance, excitation temperature, ionization and electron temperature, electron number density, and interferences from other concomitants. Sample introduction was achieved with a glass frit nebulizer (GFN). Enhancement of the calcium response was observed while sodium was present in the plasma. Signal depression was noted when calcium and phosphate were simultaneously introduced into the ACP.
