Bibliometric Analysis with Vosviewer on The Residential Site Selection Process

Abstract

Residential location choice constitutes a complex decision-making process intricately intertwined with land use and transportation systems, fostering a sophisticated structure that opens way for the accumulation of rich multidisciplinary knowledge. The main purpose of this study is to create a reference document to guide researchers on "housing location selection", which has a wide perspective from urban and transportation planning to behavioral sciences, from economy to environment by mapping through bibliographic analysis based on basic criterias such as country, author, publication and citation. The study, utilizing the "Web of Science Core Collection" database, accessed 320 publications through a search employing the keywords "residential location choice." Descriptive analyses of publications (type, distribution over years, research areas, micro and meso-scale subject headings, country distribution) were conducted using the same database. For bibliometric analysis, VOSviewer software was employed to create and visualize bibliometric networks. The analyses conducted with VOSviewer encompass co-authorship, citation, and co-occurrence, categorized into three parts: co-authorship analysis focusing on authors, co-occurrence analysis based on keywords, and citation analysis involving authors, countries, sources, and institutions. The analysis’ results are presented in the "Findings" section, while the implications derived from the study are discussed in the "Conclusion and Evaluation" sections for readers' consideration.
