Abstract

Introduction: It is known that work-family conflict has increased in critical care nurses working at the zero point during the pandemic period. Knowing the other factors affecting the self-efficacy of nurses to manage this conflict they frequently experience will be a guide in strengthening studies to be carried out in this regard. Aim: The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between critical care nurses' self-efficacy in managing work-family conflict, burnout levels and psychological resilience during the pandemic period. Methods: This descriptive study was conducted with 102 nurses working in the covid-19 critical care unit in a university hospital during the pandemic period. Research data were collected using the "Personal Information Form", "The Self-Efficacy for Managing Work and Family Conflict Scale", the "Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale" and the "Maslach Burnout Scale". Data were analyzed using SPSS version 22.0. Results: It was observed that the work-family conflict self-efficacy levels of the nurses participating in the study were moderate (50.27±12.35), and their psychological resilience levels were high (91.73±15.79). When their burnout was evaluated, it was found that "emotional exhaustion" scores were moderate (18.78±7.83), depersonalization scores were low (7.59±4.29) and personal achievement scores were low (13.47±3.32). In addition, burnout was found to be negatively correlated with resilience and self-efficacy in managing work-family conflict, and positively correlated with resilience and self-efficacy in managing work-family conflict. Conclusion: It is recommended to plan interventions that will reduce burnout and increase psychological resilience for nurses in order to reduce the negative consequences related to the individual, family and work caused by the work-family conflict experienced by intensive care nurses and to increase their self-efficacy in managing this conflict.
