Abstract

In this project we are going to discuss the implementation and working of smart blind stick for obstacle detection and navigation. People find it challenging to go from one location to another due to various forms of blindness and poor vision. This research paper aims to explore the various features and advantages of the Smart Blind Stick, as well as examine its limitations and potential for future development. Blindness or visual impairment is a significant challenge that affects millions of people worldwide. Individuals with visual impairments often face difficulties in navigating their surroundings, which can hamper their independence and daily activities. To address this issue, the development of assistive technologies has gained increasing attention in recent years. One such assistive technology is the smart blind stick, which aims to enhance the mobility and independence of individuals with visual impairments. The smart blind stick utilizes innovative technologies such as the Internet of Things to provide real-time assistance to visually impaired individuals. By utilizing these technologies, the smart blind stick allows individuals with visual impairments to independently navigate their surroundings more effectively, and detect obstacles in their path. There have been various approaches to design and develop the smart blind stick. The first approach involves the integration of ultrasound sensors to detect obstacles in the path of visually impaired individuals. Another approach utilizes infrared sensors to detect objects in the surroundings of visually impaired individuals. Another approach involves the use of GPS modules, GSM modules embedded within the smart blind stick. This approach aims to provide additional functionalities such as location tracking and communication capabilities to the smart blind stick.
