Abstract

The article discusses one of the topical problems of comparison research, which consists in the independent study of this psychological construct within the framework of cognitive and social psychology. Some cognitive models of comparison, adequate for the analysis of the mechanisms of social comparison, are considered. The variety of meanings of the term «social comparison» existing in the literature is shown, and a variant of systematization of the types of comparison in psychology is proposed.
