Abstract
The contact between the non-consumable tool and the parent metal will exhibit heat in which the two corners of dissimilar materials are bonded by plastic atomic diffusion. This method converts mechanical energy into heat energy to form weldments by friction stir welding (FSW) process. Tool rotation speed, axial force, tool traverse speed and the weld duration are the peripheral parameters that are restrained to provide the necessary sequence of heat and pressure to form the weldments. During final step of the FSW plastic atomic diffusion occurs while the interfaces are in contact, grant metallurgical bond will be formed between the two dissimilar materials. Mechanical behaviour and the micro structural features of FSW of similar and dissimilar aluminium alloys are investigated. Deformation of material was analysed by using ANSYS.
