Abstract
The article substantiates the necessity and urgency of transition to green and circular economy in the Republic of Belarus and its regions. The main documents regulating the ecological and economic development of the Republic of Belarus are considered. Priority directions of green economy development in the Republic of Belarus, including those reflecting the development of regions, are reflected. Key performance indicators of the green economy are presented. The dynamics of the industrial production index in the context of economic activities in comparison with the dynamics of gross domestic product is analyzed in order to characterize their influence on the formation of the green economy. The dynamics of indicators characterizing the impact of economic activity in the regions of the Republic of Belarus on the environment has been analyzed. The main problems of Vitebsk region in comparison with other regions in the field of formation of green and circular economy are revealed.
