Abstract
Abstract. Team personality has received much attention as organizations increasingly organize work around teams. Yet the concept of team personality in the current literature has not been well developed; typically it is considered as an extrapolation of individual personality traits to team. In the present paper, we address team personality by considering recent advances in personality theories and in teams. We argue team personality is a reasonable construct, but it needs to be viewed directly at the team level and from a contextualized perspective. Furthermore, we identify critical contextual conditions under which team personality is embedded and suggest ways in which team personality can be measured taking contextual issues into account.
