Abstract

ABSTRACTThe Slovenian web publications are collected in accordance with the Legal Deposit Act, Act amending the Legal Deposit Act, and Regulations on Type and Selection Criteria for Legal Deposit of Electronic Publications. Since the adoption of Legal Deposit Act in 2006, the National and University Library (NUL) has carried out a range of activities in the field of collecting legal deposit of web publications. Two different concepts of web publications acquisition are defined by The Legal Deposit Act. NUL can search for and collect freely accessible web publications but must also provide an electronic means of depositing web publications for the publishers and intellectual rights owners. The two concepts overlap to some extent, however, as web sites are also treated as publications, and are, therefore, harvested by NUL, there exist some fundamental differences in terms of acquisition, preservation and usage of different types of web publications.
