Abstract

ABSTRACTThe manuscript catalogue of Ljubljanian Prince Auersperg’s Library was used to describe his architectural book acquisitions. The special concern was put on the Count Volf Engelbert and his brother, Prince Janez Vajkard Auersperg’s architectural and technical taste. The architecture class of Auersperg’s book catalogue (1668) contained several important applied physics, technique and military works. The importance and value of particular items are discussed. The library was used as the basis for the analysis of Auerspergs’ early modern technical interests just after they returned to the Catholic faith. They used their knowledge of architecture design for the palaces in Ljubljana and Kočevje. The books of former Auersperg’s Ljubljana library are today at different libraries in USA and Europe.
