Abstract
We present a genome assembly from an individual male common flesh fly, Sarcophaga carnaria (Arthropoda; Insecta; Diptera; Sarcophagidae). The genome sequence has a total length of 744.10 megabases. Most of the assembly is scaffolded into 6 chromosomal pseudomolecules, including the X sex chromosome. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled and is 19.98 kilobases in length. Gene annotation of this assembly on Ensembl identified 15,248 protein-coding genes.
