Abstract

Abstract

We aimed to describe a potential relationship between an adult’s wellness and the level of care (LOC) they received in their counselling services. Through an online survey panel, we recruited clients who received counselling over the last 12 months (N = 466). Participants responded to questions about their demographics, health, and mental health history, the LOC for their counselling or therapy, and 5F-WEL (Myers & Sweeney, 2005). We analyzed the data using latent profile analysis (LPA), profiles were developed based on their responses to the 5F-WEL second order factors. We found four profiles as an appropriate solution, each had significant differences in age, sexuality, race and ethnicity, degree, work status, marriage status, and mental health diagnoses. The LOC was not significant. Our results inform practitioners, counselor educators, and policymakers on the impact IC has on an individual’s wellness, and inform future research on the relationship between wellness and IC.
