Abstract

Abstract The article approach is the introduces the existence of number sequences on the set of real numbers that also create magic squares. Presents the Franklin’s magic square construction method and how to apply it to container stowage planning. Then state the results obtained. Magic squares even and odd are build from number sequences detected. For the first time, the Franklin magic rectangle was build on the basic of the 4x4 magic square and described many of its interesting properties. Numerical experiment applying the Franklin’s magic square model to stowage container planning, the weight of the goods is evenly distributed on the ship, ensuring the stability of the container ship. Finally discuss relevant issues and draw conclusions. Because this is a numerical experimental model, it only analyze the difference in container stowage planning between two models: the application of the Franklin’s magic square and the current linear programming problem model, but does not evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of the two methods. State some highlights of the new method, solve multiple needs of container stowage at the same time so it is very feasible. Need more extensive research with actual data in the future.
