Abstract Background Renal transplantation is the treatment of choice in end-stage renal disease (ESRD)(1, 2), nonetheless; there are still limitations in improving long-term renal graft survival in a significant way, post-transplant glomerular disease being one of the main causes of renal graft loss (3, 4).
