Abstract

Abstract This article discusses a compact and versatile quad-port dual-band printed antenna designed for 5G, V2X, and WLAN/Wi-Fi 6E applications. The antenna is printed on a 75mm x 75mm FR4 substrate with a thickness of 1.6mm. It operates efficiently within the 5G spectrum (3.2–3.8 GHz) and the upper WLAN band (5.2–6.86 GHz) with a 10 dB impedance bandwidth. The proposed antenna covers a wide range of current and future frequency bands for 4G and 5G applications, making it highly versatile. Despite keeping the antenna components at a minimum distance, it achieves excellent isolation performance, exceeding 13 dB. This results in a high radiation efficiency of 89% and substantial gain of approximately 4.8 dBi across the applicable range. In order to assess the performance of Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) systems, several metrics including Envelope Correlation Coefficient (ECC), channel capacity and Channel Capacity Loss (CCL) were computed, according to the specifications outlined in the MIMO standard. After thorough examination, the suggested antenna is found suitable for applications involving broad and multiple frequency bands.
