Abstract
In the contemporary business environment, a comprehensive evaluation of a company's economic activities within a specific time frame is essential for managers and experts. A company's performance is influenced not only by its current economic status but also by its activities during the given period. While numerous studies have examined the progress and regression of units over two consecutive periods, this research focuses on classifying units within a single period. The significance of this study lies in its potential to assist investors in selecting the most suitable products to include in their portfolios. By categorizing products within a defined period, investors can make well-informed decisions. To accomplish this objective, the research introduces the concept of the production possibilities set within a specific time frame. Subsequently, a proposed method is employed to classify the units. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated through its application in classifying active industries in the Iranian Petrochemical Exchange, providing a practical illustration of its real-world implementation.
