Abstract
Abstract
A chiral magnetic catalyst, L-Co (II) - γ-Fe2O3, was prepared by complexing a chiral Schiff base ligand containing an ionic liquid to cobalt chloride and then stabilizing the complex on γ-Fe2O3 nanoparticles. The catalyst and ligand were characterized using HNMR, CNMR, CHN, EDX, SEM, UV-Vis, ICP, TGA, VSM, FT-IR, and XRD analyses. Excellent catalytic activity and enantioselectivity were observed in the green epoxidation of alkenes in the presence of TBHP and EtOAc solvent. The catalyst with magnetic separation capability was recovered with a slight decrease in conversion and yield of epoxidation after five runs.
