Abstract
Introduction: We report a case of neurobrucellosis following brucellosis spondylitis. To date ,this is the first description of a patient suffering neurobrucellosis following brucellosis spondylitis.
Case Presentation: The patient was an elderly men with a history of feeding sheep and cows. The common symptoms included cervicoldynia and progressive paralysis of limbs. According to the results of blood bacterial culture, brucella agglutination test, CSF culture, tissue culture and Next-generation sequencing, the patient was considered meningitis following brucellosis spondylitis. According to the progressive weakness of the limbs, the patient received discectomy and anti-brucella therapy, the clinical symptoms gradually improved. But remained with mild paralysis of limbs although by 1-month rehabilitative training.
Conclusion: When central nervous system presented with patient of brucellosis spondylitis, we should be aware of neurobrucellosis.
