Abstract
Abstract
This paper studies the link between intergenerational mobility and preferences for redistribution among Hongkongers. Using cross-sectional microdata, we support the hypothesis that climbing the income ladder triggers more favourable attitudes towards redistribution. However, we provide evidence that this happens especially among those who, despite the income mobility, still lay at the bottom of the income scale.
